Hello world - meet Chad!! When I first picked Chad up, he was a shy and apprehensive little guy. Wasn’t a fan of walking on leash and absolutely not a fan of stairs. When we first arrived home he would make little pig sounds until I’d carry him up the three stairs into the house. While he was unsure, he was interested and determined to try by himself and definitely at his own pace. He’s fully mastered the stairs and is working on waiting and checking in before going through any thresholds. He took to his kennel pretty quickly but definitely prefers human and animal company. He sleeps with a bed in his kennel, a chew toy, a blanket over the top, and either a fan or some kind of calming music. He sometimes needs a few shushes but then will be fast asleep! Chad’s potty training skills are emerging! He can hold his bladder and BMs for quite sometime and only has accidents two places in the house (where I have pee pads placed). Chad is super curious and is eager to watch and learn! We’ve mastered “sit” and are working on “wait” and “down”. He’s food motivated but his stomach is a little sensitive so we’ve mostly been avoiding treats (will reward with his kibble). He’s taken to his older foster sister Carmella extremely well and loves to stick close to her and copy her while outside. They love to run and play but Chad needs some reminders to slow down and not take big jumps (he really just wants to do everything Carm does and doesn’t realize he’s still a baby). When other dogs have set boundaries with Chad, he has listened SO well. The only time he needs some human assistance is when he’s playing and is too in the zone! Chad does pretty well in the car as he’s gotten more comfortable. He would try to worm his way onto my lap while driving but has learned to settle and stay in the backseat. For car rides, he’s buckled in or on a bed sleeping in his dog hammock. Chad is super interested in cats but his puppy play style is a little bit much for my resident cat. This little man is an ABSOLUTE joy. He’s such a snuggly, happy, wiggly, and wild man. He seems most happy when he’s snuggled up in bed with me or playing with older dogs. I absolutely love him and watching him learn and grow.
